THE Yayoy’s Grill and Restobar opened its campaign in the 2012 Mayor Nice Apura Cup Open Basketball Tournament in style by outlasting the MacMae Purified Drinking Water, 96-91, over at the Carcar City Sports Complex.
The game was nip-and-tuck but in the end, the wards of head coach Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba prevailed, thanks to the 17-point performance of former University of Cebu stalwart Brian Heruela along with the 13 of big man Erick Rodriguez and the 10 of Mark Ababon.
Former M. Lhuillier gunner, Jerry Cavan, paced the losing team with 26 points while Mannie Gabas chipped in 20. Former Southwestern University wingman Eric Zanoria also had 13 in the losing effort. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
