Gabriel Abutin failed to undergo eight kidney dialysis sessions last month because his parents had no promissory note to present to the hospital. Abutin’s mother, Cecilia, and his father, Arnulfo, a former waiter, are hard-pressed to provide for their 14-year-old son’s monthly dialysis expenses of P20,000.
Since Gabriel has a low hemoglobin count, doctors at the Philippine General Hospital have also advised the Abutins to confine their son in the hospital. “Right now, we need to raise P900,000 for Gabriel’s kidney transplant,” his father said.
Those who are willing to help can call Cecilia at 09219911391. Deposits can be made through her bank account with BPI (008359-059206).—Santi R. Alcantara
