MANILA, Philippines — An art director was caught at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for alleged possession of marijuana, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said in a statement Tuesday.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr., identified the suspect as Jean-Michael Red, 26, from UP Village, Diliman, Quezon City, and working as a freelance art director.

“Red … who was inside the airport to send off a lady friend bound for Palawan, was arrested during the mandatory frisking by airport authorities that resulted in the discovery of the illegal drug placed inside a camera film canister taken from the left pocket of his denim pants,” Cacdac said.

Red is being held at the PDEA Regional Office — National Capital Region. The confiscated illegal drugs were sent to PDEA laboratories for analysis, Cacdac said.

Authorities are preparing the filing of violations of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against Red, PDEA said.
