ITCZ to bring rains in Mindanao

/ 07:27 AM November 06, 2012

MANILA, Philippines – Rainshowers were seen in Mindanao due to an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

“Mindanao will be cloudy with occasional light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its latest bulletin.

An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions which becomes a breeding ground for potential cyclones.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to east with slight to moderate seas,” it added.
