How peace was restored in Quezon City neighborhood

/ 01:34 AM November 06, 2012

A man whom police said was causing a disturbance in his Quezon City neighborhood was killed by law enforcers after he allegedly fired at them early Monday morning.

Jake Alhambra, 40, was shot dead by members of the Quezon City Police District’s Galas station who responded to a call for help from residents on ROTC Hunters Street, Barangay (village) Tatalon. Case investigator PO2 Dennis Llapitan said Alhambra, a resident of Kaliraya Street, was drunk and brandishing a handgun at passersby around 3 a.m.

Concerned citizens then alerted the Galas station, which sent Police Officer 3 Michael Soriano, PO3 Wilson Cana and PO1 Romeo Masirag to the scene. Alhambra allegedly fired at the approaching officers, prompting them to return fire, killing him on the spot, Llapitan said.—Julie M. Aurelio
