Jealous seaman kills partner, 3 others in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines—Four people were killed and several others were injured in Caloocan Sunday evening when a 33-year-old seaman ran amok over suspicions that his live-in partner had another man, police said Monday.

The National Capital Region Police Office said suspect Rolly Rapit was arrested around 10:15 p.m. Sunday after he allegedly shot dead his live-in partner, Eden Dela Cruz, 37, in a fit of jealousy inside their home at Block 6, Lot 24, PH1 Tierra Nova Royal Subdivision in Bagumbong Caloocan City.

Police said Rapit shot people outside their home in an attempt to “eliminate all witnesses to the crime.”

Aside Dela Cruz, the three others killed were identified as Benjamin and Elizabeth Templonuevo, 17, and 48, respectively; and Arnold Dizon, police said.

Four people identified as Archie Artugi, 23; Julius Bernardo, 19; Ma. Dina Lagonero; and Jover Ricana, 15 were also rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries.

Recovered from the crime scene, police said, was the 9 mm Norinco pistol allegedly used by the suspect.

The case was placed for further investigation.
