Block-timer nabbed for love advice

Police arrested last Sunday a radio dyLA block-timer  after a woman from Lapu-Lapu City complained that he collected  P45,000  from her for advice about the marital problems of her friend abroad.

Arman Cuban, 48, who  hosts  a Sunday morning radio show, was still detained at the  precinct last night.

Lotes Dayuja Laumen said she was open to settling the matter if she could get her money back.

Police said a complaint for estafa may be filed against Cuban, a native of Siquijor province.

Laumen earlier sought the radio host’s advice about   marital problems of her friend  in the United Kingdom whom she introduced to Cuban.

Cuban in his  radio show and column in a local tabloid offers   advice on relationships  and  feng shui, and claims he can  tell one’s fortune (“motag-an sa kapalaran, musulbad  sa suliran sa gugma, mutambal sa barang, patol, mu-feng shui sa balay.”)

Laumen said he collected P45,000 from   her two weeks ago but  instead of reconciling, the relationship of her friend and her friend’s  husband worsened.

Cuban, in an interview, said the amount was for his services in giving advice.   Asked why the fee was big, he said, he used expensive candles to intercede for the couple.

He said the woman wanted a spell cast to have someone killed: “Naa man sila’y ipapatay pinagi sa barang.”

Laumen said she will not file charges  if Cuban will return the amount./CORRESPONDENT CHITO ARAGON
