MANILA, Philippines—ABS-CBN Foundation managing director and environmental advocate Gina Lopez was injured in a bicycle accident in a park in Quezon City on Saturday, police said.
Superintendent Virgilio Fabian of Quezon City Police District’s Fairview station said Lopez was passing through the Tower II area of La Mesa Ecopark on her mountain bike when she lost control and fell off the bike around 5 p.m.
Fabian did not give details about Lopez’s injuries but said members of the park’s emergency medical services team attended to her before bringing her to Far Eastern University Hospital.
The attending physician, Dr. Azelea Superiano, later declared Lopez to be in “a stable condition,” the officer said in a report.
Reached on the phone on Sunday, Fabian said Lopez told him she was already “okay” when they spoke Saturday night but that she had asked to be transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center for further medical tests.
In a text message, ABS-CBN public relations director Kane Errol Choa said Lopez was scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
