Cabbie accused of being masiao runner nabbed

A TAXI driver was arrested while he was allegedly about to deliver masiao tally sheets in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Rolando Largo, 36, has been placed under surveillance due to reports that he was a masiao runner, said Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO).

Largo is a native of Bohol Province but lives in Cebu City.

Morpos said IDMB tried but failed to arrest Largo in a previous anti-illegal gambling operation.

Largo allegedly used his taxi in transporting tally sheets, said Morpos.

Morpos said they continued to monitor Largo until another operation was made against the taxi driver last Wednesday night.

Morpos and other policemen boarded a taxi and followed Largo, who was driving a J and Tons taxi with plate number GWW-579.

Largo stopped in sitio Nawanao and walked toward a shanty. He was already carrying pieces of paper when he returned to the taxi.

Largo was about to drive off when police apprehended him. Seized from him were 11 bundles of tally sheets, said police.
