A 28-YEAR-OLD security guard was critically wounded after he was mauled by three men whom he pacified for asking some loose coins from an American national in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.
Daniel Cantay of St. Louis Security Agency sustained stab wounds in the left hand and back.
Two of the perpetrators were identified only as Tonio and Omeng. They remained at larage.
Police said Cantay, who was detailed at Frolics Bar in sitio Sangi, accompanied an American customer in hailing a taxi at dawn yesterday.
While the guard and the American were waiting for a taxi, three men arrived and asked P5 from the foreigner for buying cigarettes.
Cantay shooed the three men away. The three men got irked and threatened the security guard before they left, said police.
Shortly after the American boarded a taxi, the three men returned and confronted Cantay.
The three men took turns in attacking the security guard. One of the two men held Cantay’s hands while the other man stabbed him.
The perpetrators fled after the attack.
Co-workers brought Cantay to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital. The victim was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
