BIR shocks CTU in Arena 7 hoopfest

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-Cebu nipped the Cebu Technological University (CTU), 64-60, last Monday to bag its first win in two games (1-1), while the latter remains winless in three outings (0-3) in the ongoing Association of Regional Executives in National Agencies (ARENA), Region 7 basketball tournament at the DPWH covered court.

BIR led 17-14 in the opening period but CTU responded with a 16-11 run in the second canto to grab a, 30-28 lead at the half. The third quarter ended with both teams tied at 44-all setting a pulse-pounding final canto.

In the fourth period, BIR outscored CTU, 20-16 for the four-point victory.

Allen Sorela and Leo Galvez powered BIR with 13 points apiece, while Gerry Densing and Melvin Abarquez paced CTU with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
