Budget for free meals set aside

WILL there be free packed meals for volunteers and policemen fielded at different cemeteries and bus terminals for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ holidays?

No budget was approved for it so Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said that it was up to  the Police Coordinating and Advisory Council  whether to pursue the proposal some other way.

The  Cebu City Council went on break without approving  the P495,000 budget request for the  packed meals proposed by Councilor Edgar Labella for  policemen and volunteers assigned to keep the peace during the All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day celebrations.

The proposal remains under review by the budget committee, chaired by Councilor Margot Osmeña.  At the time, she was  trying to  determine if there was enough of the  city’s share of Pagcor funds to spend for the purpose. The council went on  break and will resume session on Nov. 7./Chief of Reporters Doris C.
