The seventh most wanted man in Muntinlupa City who went into hiding after he was accused of murder in 2009 has finally been captured by the police after he came home for “Undas” to visit his parents.

On Tuesday, Roland Sagum, a 22-year-old former pedicab driver, was arrested based on a warrant issued in August 2011 by Judge Amelia A. Fabros of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205.

In 2009, he was accused of killing the new boyfriend of his former girlfriend who had left Sagum because she was tired of being beaten up by him, acting city police chief Senior Superintendent Conrad Capa said.

Sagum, however, went into hiding after he was charged with murder. On Tuesday, the police received a tip from a concerned citizen that Sagum had been spotted in his parents’ house on Rosal Street in Bagong Sibol, Barangay (village) Putatan.

“After three years, he probably thought that [the police were no longer looking for him] so he came home for Undas,” Capa said, adding that investigators have yet to determine where Sagum spent the last few years before they caught him.

Sagum is now in the custody of the city police as they await a court order for his transfer to a government-run prison.
