TWO men who were implicated in a fatal shooting of a trisikad driver were arrested in an illegal drug buy-bust operation in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.
Murder and illegal drug charges will be filed against Junrey Casio and Alvin Doaban, both 28 years old.
The two men allegedly sold packs of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer last Monday night.
The arrest was made by the Mactan police led by Chief Insp. Conrado Manatad.
Police said they have been monitoring the two men due to reports that they were involved in selling drugs in barangay Buaya where the two men live.
After the arrest, five sachets of suspected shabu and the P400 used as buy-bust money were seized from Doaban. Recovered from Casio were 13 packs containing white crystalline substance, said police.
After they were arrested, the two men were brought to the Mactan police station where a witness identified the two men as the ones who shot dead Rogel Banzon in barangay Mactan last Saturday night, said police.
Banzon was shot dead by two gunmen while he was driving his trisikad on his way home last Saturday night. He was found slumped on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Responding police brought him to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital but the attending doctor declared him dead.
Police recovered six empty shells and two deformed slugs of a .45 caliber pistol and two empty shells of a 9mm pistol in the crime scene./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
