5:15 p.m.- Globalport vs. San Mig Coffee

ORGANIZERS are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the success of upcoming showdown between the San Mig Coffee Mixers and Alaska Aces slated Nov. 10 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

“At least 120 policemen will be deployed around the venue. Some of them will help ease the traffic, said Asila Malazarte in a press briefing yesterday at AA BBQ Restaurant in A.S Fortuna Street in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Malazarte of Enya Ideals also urged the public to buy their tickets early for the out-of-town offering of the ongoing 38th PBA Philippine Cup. “Courtside and lower box tickets are selling fast,” said Malazarte.

Ticket prices are pegged at P950 for courtside, P650 for lower box, P350 for upper box and P150 for general admission.

The Coffee Mixers look to embark on their Lapu-Lapu sojourn with a high morale as they take on Globalport Batang Pier in today’s main game at the Araneta Coliseum.

San Mig Coffee is coming off a 92-91 win over Barako Bull Energy Cola, a game which ended in a controversial fashion.

Rico Villanueva attempted what could have been game-winning but Rafi Reavis tapped the ball while it was on top of the rim the collared the rebound as time ran out, sealing San Mig Coffee’s one-point victory.

Barako Bull protested that what Reavis did was a goal-tending violation but league commissioner Chito Salud said the play was legal based on a Fiba rule that the league adapted in the 2006-07 season./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
