The Pasay City government will be implementing a traffic rerouting scheme starting Wednesday to decongest traffic around local cemeteries for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

In an advisory, the Pasay Traffic Enforcement Unit announced that the whole stretch of Don C. Revilla or Sgt. Mariano Street, from Edsa to the Pasay City cemetery, will be closed to all vehicles.

Libertad Street beside the Dolores fire station will also be closed to all vehicles in both directions to give way to foot traffic going to and from the Roman Catholic cemetery.

One-way traffic will also be implemented along eastbound Arnaiz Avenue, from Aurora Street to the corner Marconi Street, from 2 p.m. onwards.

All Evangelista public utility jeepneys from Libertad will be rerouted to Burgos Street then right to Buendia going to Makati.

To further decongest road traffic to and from the cemeteries, Pasay police chief Supt. Samuel Turla warned that illegally parked vehicles will be towed.

Around 400 policemen are being deployed to secure key areas in the city, Pasay Mayor Antonino Calixto said in a statement.
