A TOTAL of 46 persons with disabilities (PWDs) received aid from the Cebu City government last Oct. 15 at the Plaza Sugbo.

The Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), together with the Cebu City Federation of Persons with Disabilities, distributed 13 brand-new wheelchairs, six walkers, six crutches, six canes and five strollers to the PWDs.

DSWS head Ester Concha said they will also deliver 10 more wheelchairs to the homes of qualified beneficiaries who are bed-ridden.

Another 42 beneficiaries who were affected by the recent demolitions also received P10,000 livelihood assistance from the city government. There were 10 recipients from barangay T. Padilla and 32 from barangay Luz.

In separate event, the DSWS also celebrated the second commemoration of the visually impaired at Plaza Sugbu. Concha said that the department has purchased 75 visual canes intended for the blind and these will be distributed to them.
