Senior Supt. Melvin Buenafe, Cebu City Police Chief, said he would continue to serve Cebu City until he is  transferred.

Buenafe said he was grateful for Mayor Michael Rama’s vote of confidence after the m ayor said he wanted Buenafe to stay in his post.

Rama said the absence of vigilante-style killings and profile crimes during his stint was reason enough to ask him to continue.

A 68-year-old man hanged himself after he lost  money betting in “hantak” (a coin-toss game) in barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town last Sunday.

Lucrecia, Perfecto Mata’s wife, found his lifeless  body in their  room. . The  victim lost P3,000 betting in hantak.  /Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc
