CEBU’S Shyne Villareal was the winningest tennister after clinching two titles in the final leg of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championships 2012 Series, which came to an end yesterday at the Cebu International Tennis Centre, Inc. in Consolacion, Cebu.
Villareal valiantly defended home turf by defeating the same opponent—Bais’ Angela Cabral— for the girls 14 and girls 16 titles.
She grabbed the girls 14 title by surviving the onslaught put up by Cabral, 7-6, 6-7 , 10-5.
She stopped Cabral from avenging her loss by completing a 6-3, 6-4 win for the girls 16 title.
Cebuano netters grabbed six of the eight titles on hand.
Aside from Villareal, Cebuanos also clinched the titles in the 10-unisex, 14 boys, 16 boys and 18 boys and girls.
Dan Eldred Cinco outlasted Marc Norman Enriquez, 6-3, 6-2 for the boys 18 title while Hannah Grace Espinosa logged a 6-3, 6-3 demolition of Claire Lazaga for the girls 18 title.
The 14 boys title was won by Marc Nicole Soson, who defeated Marawe’s Duma Hakim Boloto, 1-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Clyde Bienes annihilated Bais’ Kim Christian Ebarle, 6-2, 6-2, for the 16 boys title.
The 10 under title went to Nonito Pepito, who had a walk in the park against Ashton Benne Villanueva, 6-1, 6-2.
The 12 boys and girls titles went to Kenneth Banico and Jan Marie Anghan, both from Siquijor.
Banico took the boys title after surviving Boloto, 7-5, 5-7, 10-7, while Anghan pocketed the girls title with a 6-3, 6-4 outsmarting of Rica Trixie Gudelosao of Bohol. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
