Alta Vista jungolf Challenge starts today at Pardo
THE FIGHT TO BRING home the Perpetual Cup begins today as the 8th Alta Vista Junior Golf Challenge unfurls with more than 80 junior golfers in attendance at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC) in the hills of Pardo, Cebu City.
The Perpertual Cup will be given to the club adjudged as the Club of the Year.
To get the title, a club must accumulate the highest number of ranking points. These ranking points will come from players, who, for each day of the competition, will be ranked accordingly and awarded corresponding points under each class.
The winning club will get to keep and display the perpetual trophy for one year, until it is brought back to AVGCC in next year’s edition of the tournament.
This three-day tournament features an individual and team competition with six age-groups—Special Division (18-21), Class A (15-17), B (13-14), C (11-12), D (9-10), and E (6-8).
Those playing individually can also join the team competition. Their individual scores will be the basis for their team scores.
Aside from the perpetual cup, also up for grabs is the team title, and the age-group titles.
There are also short games such as putting, bunker shot and pitching distance.
Special awards will also be given away such as free registration and round trip ticket to the player who gets the lowest gross.
Free registration fee for next year’s edition of the tournament will also be awarded to winners in classes A, B, C, D, E . /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
