Arroyo rushed to hospital due to hypertension

MANILA, Philippines—Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was rushed to the St. Luke’s Hospital at Global City in Taguig City due to hypertension.

Her brother-in-law, Negros Occidental Representative Ignacio “Iggy”Arroyo, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that “it was nothing serious” as she was brought there more as a precaution.

Iggy said that his brother, former first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, has been informed of his wife’s predicament and he was on his way  to the hospital.

Arroyo went straight to Porac, Pampanga, after her lunch meeting with members of the House minority to meet with local officials in her district. She decided to skip President Benigno Aquino’s State of the Nation Address upon receiving reports that he would bash her and her allies with corruption allegations.
