Peace and order, traffic on top of security plans

MANDAUE City Police and Traffic Enforcement and Management are ready to ensure safety of the public during All Saints’ Day and All  Souls’ Day.

A SWAT team, two sniffing dogs and Subangdaku Police will monitor the  North Bus Terminal (NBT) starting tomorrow.

Police assistance desks will be set up in  cemeteries, the bus terminal and the sea port.

Sr. Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin, Mandaue city police chief,  assured adequate security in the city’s  bus and PUJ terminals, six ports and cemeteries for the whole week to ensure that no untoward incident would mar traditional family visits to gravesides on Nov. 1 and 2.

Police will make random inspections in highly pouplated areas starting Sunday led by Baldebrin.

He reminded passengers and  those visiting the cemetery not to bring bladed weapons, alcoholic drinks or explosives, which are banned.

Loud noise like videoke singing is also not allowed in the cemeteries under a Mandaue city ordinance.

Baggage and buses inside the terminal will be  checked by the police before passengers are allowed to board.

A total 190 traffic enforcers will be fielded to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Team chief Edwin Ermac said all  roads immediately leading to cemeteries  will be temporarily closed to traffic. Enforcers will  also suspend the no- parking policy along the  streetside as long as vehicles do not obstruct the street.
