THE Cebu City government acquired new heavy equipment worth P32.9 million to improve drainage and prevent street flooding.
“The collection of taxes will be justified by giving it back to the people in line with transparency and accountability,” Mayor Michael Rama said in a speech during the blessing and turnover of the new equipment.
A Kanghim vacuum sewer cleaner worth P16.15 million will be used to declog stuck up drainage in city streets.
A P2.42 million skid loader can lift and transport heavy equipment and other materials from one site to another so they don’t damage city streets, said City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete.
An P11.4 million street sweeper is part of the batch. Engineer Apollo Dante of the city engineering office said a P2.98 million low bed trailer and the vacuum sewer cleaner will be assigned to his office./Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
