Utassco routs Allyn & Sons for second win in Power Forty caging

THE Utility Assurance Corp. (Utassco) crushed erstwhile leader Allyn & Sons (2-2), 95-86, Tuesday night for its 2nd win in as many games in the Power Forty Basketball Club-2012 X’mas basketball tournament at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym.

Despite the absence of skipper Flor Yosores, Utassco still managed to dominate Allyn & Sons from start to finish with Sim Yosores taking the cudgels of his brother.

Three-point artist Wewe Cabrera had a night-high 33 points spiked by seven triples for Utassco while Cards Vernaiz and July Capala paced Allyn & Sons with 22 and 18 points, respectively.

In the other game, defending champion Park n’ Go nipped Ang Tibay Mo, 83-82 in come-from-behind fashion.

Ang Tibay Mo took double-digit leads in the 2nd and 3rd periods before the Breadmakers caught fire in the fourth with a blistering 24-12 run anchored on a booming triple from Adot Tabar.

Tabar and Erik Abatayo led Park n’ Go with 19 points apiece while Jun Sumargo paced Ang Tibay Mo with 25 markers.

In the mainer, Jinjec Commando beat Water Market, 82-77, to improve to 3-1 while the latter dropped to 1-2.

Joel Canete and Sam Atillo led Commando with 23 and 16 points, respectively, while Michael Arias paced Water Market with a game-high 34 points.
