Vidal suffers low blood sugar level during Mass
ARCHBISHOP Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal had an episode of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar while presiding over the thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod in Rome, Italy last Monday, a TV report said.
He recovered after he was quickly attended to by his personal nurse, Adrian Aba, who gave him candy and crackers after the Mass.
“It was just a sign of hunger,” said Vidal, smiling. He had skipped breaking before celebrating the 8 a.m. Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Fr. Mhar Balili, head of the committee on liturgy in Rome, said the cardinal will fly back to Cebu next week. “We’re very tired but happy and fulfilled,” he said. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
