Red, Orange lead in MCWD hoop finals

THE Red team drubbed Orange, 79-63, last Saturday in Group A while Orange blasted Green, 67-52 in Group B to draw first blood in their respective best-of-three Finals Series of the Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD)-2012 annual basketball tournament.

Red set the tone of the rout by posting a, 27-13 lead in the opening period and was unstoppable the rest of the way.

Melvin Mission and Bernie Carreon led Red with 18 and 13 points, respectively while Army Marata and Virgilio Rago paced Orange with 14 and 13 markers.

Earlier, in Group B, Orange took a slim advantage in the first three periods before finishing off Green with a, 21-11 run in the fourth quarter for the 15-point win.

FEATURED STORIES

Bert Tabar and Jeramy Ranolo led Orange with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Lowen Tancinco and Lalong Abella paced Green with 21 and 15 markers.

Game 2 of the Finals Series is slated on Saturday.
