Fire hits slum area in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – A fire which reached fifth alarm razed a slum area in Barangay (village) Sangandaan, Quezon City,  the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

Fire Officer 2 Wilson Bautista said in a phone interview that the fire started around 2:45 p.m. at 72 Insurance extension street, GSIS Village, Barangay Sangandaan, Project 8, Quezon City.

A warehouse near the area was also damaged by the fire.

Two people were said to have been injured based on initial reports, Bautista added.

The fifth alarm was raised at 3:20 p.m. and the fire was still raging as of 4:20 p.m., Bautista said.
