Antipolo City RTC orders transfer of Colonel Kapunan to Rizal jail

MANILA, Philippines—The Antipolo City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 ordered the transfer of Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo “Red” Kapunan, the principal suspect over the double murder case involving labor leader Rolando “Ka Lando” Olalia and driver Leonor Alay-ay, to the Rizal Provincial Jail.

Kapunan has been placed under the custody of the Philippine Army after he surrendered last week.

In its 4-page order, the Antipolo Regional Trial Court Branch 98 ordered Kapunan’s transfer.

“We are relieved as this is the only correct thing to do,” lawyer Edre Olalia said.

He adde two former RAM soldiers and subordinates of Kapunan are ready to testify against him.

Kapunan is one of the 13 accused in the most celebrated post-EDSA crime. Other accused include Desiderio Perez, Oscar Legaspi, Filomeno Maligaya, Cirilo Almario, Jose Bacera, Fernando Casanova, Ricardo Dicon, Gilbert Galicia, Dennis Jabatan, Gene Paris, Freddie Sumagaysay and Edger Sumido.
