This early, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim is already making sure that he will figure prominently in the minds of residents, just months before the 2013 elections, a move that will hopefully translate into votes and allow him to defeat his closest rival for the mayoral post, former President Joseph Estrada.

On Monday, Lim and actor-director Cesar Montano dished out the details on an upcoming movie about the former policeman’s life, which will be released in January.

“‘The Turning Cradle: The Untold Story of Alfredo Lim’ will humanize and show [Lim’s] humane side. It will be an inspiration to younger generations to pursue their dreams,” said Montano, who will portray Lim and direct the biopic.

He added that 30 percent of the fourth film on Lim’s life will be about his childhood while the rest will tackle his life as a policeman in the 1960s based on the book by National Artist Nick Joaquin, “May Langit Din ang Mahirap: The Alfredo Siojo Lim Story.”

According to the actor, he planned to have international screenings because “this is a beautiful story of a poor man’s struggle to become successful and be able to help the community.”

He then went on to say that the film will show “why Lim should still be the mayor of Manila because he is deserving and he is a good leader.”

At the same time, Lim made jibes directed at Estrada, referring to him as being “from way above heaven” as he described himself as a grounded person.

“I don’t think he experienced what I went through,” Lim said.
