BFP officer-in-charge Ruben Bearis Jr. said BFP is intensifying its Oplan Kaluluwa Iwas Sunog, Bantay Motorista scheme to ensure public safety during the observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day next week.
Bearis said he has directed all regional, provincial and municipal fire stations to display posters and tarpaulins in front of fire stations, trucks, and in other conspicuous places to remind motorists and passers-by about safety.
Highly trained rescuers would also be deployed to cemeteries, terminals, piers, and highways to assist and respond to emergencies.
“The Medical Services Team shall be giving medical assistance and consultations to the public, who will be visiting their departed loved ones,” Bearis added.
Firefighters, he said, will be on the lookout not just for fire incidents, but would also assist in the preservation of peace and order at public cemeteries.
BFP will be placed under heightened alert.
Meanwhile, along with its Oplan Kaluluwa preparations, the fire bureau has also launched its new catchphrase “Bumbero Friend Palagi”, which will be printed in posters and tarpaulins to be used by the bureau in their operation plan.
“The new slogan carries the initials of the BFP to show the firefighters’ readiness to provide safety services that includes rescue and medical response at all times,” said Bearis.
