PH falters in AFC U19 women’s qualifying

THE PHILIPPINES failed to advance to the second qualification round of the 2013 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Women’s Championship after losing, 0-1, against Chinese Taipei last night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

The Philippines finished at third place in group C with a 1-2 (win-loss) record. Its lone win was against Hong Kong, whom it blanked, 2-0, at the start of the qualifiers last Wednesday.

The Philippines put itself in a do-or-die situation against Chinese Taipei after bowing to Myanmar, 0-4, last Friday.

Pan Yen-Hsin ended the Philippine U19 women’s dreams at the 35th minute of the ballgame.

Chinese Taipei joins Myanmar to the second qualifying round slated December in Vietnam. Myanmar finished at the top of bracket C after winning all of its matches while Chinese Taipei trails at second with two wins and one loss.

Chinese Taipei suffered its only loss at the hands of Myanmar, 1-3, played last Wednesday. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
