FEU backs out of PCCL

/ 10:01 AM October 21, 2012

THE FAR Eastern University Tamaraws backed out of competing in the 2012 Philippine Collegiate Champions League for the reason that they have yet to decide on a new head coach with the impending resignation of Cebuano head coach Bert Flores.

The news was confirmed by a message by PCCL commissioner Joe Lipa.

“They begged off from the NCR qualifying round because they will revamp the team,” said Lipa in a text message to Cebu Daily News yesterday.

The development was also affirmed by FEU assistant coach Ryan Betia. He also said that aside from the PCCL, they will also not compete in the UniGames in Bacolod. “Wala pa sila naka-appoint ug new head coach and ang mga players, kasagaran gaduwa sa PBA D-League,” the former long-time University of San Carlos assistant coach said.

In FEU’s place will be the University of the East Red Warriors, which will compete in the NCR qualifying round starting on Nov. 6. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
