THE REIGNING Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball champions Southwestern University Cobras test their mettle against some of the best squads from all over the country in the 17th Sandugo-University Games tomorrow at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.
The SWU wards of champion head coach Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba will be joined there by another team from the Cebu in Cesafi third placers University of San Jose-Recoletos.
More than 50 schools including those from the UAAP and NCAA will be participating in this competition that was founded way back 1996 by the late Rolando Dizon.
There will be 13 sports events that will be competed in but none more prestigious than the basketball tournament, where the five-time UAAP champions Ateneo Blue Eagles are back to defend their crown after beating West Negros University for the title last year.
The other disciplines that will be competed in are athletics, chess, taekwondo, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, swimming, beach volleyball, karatedo, and sepak takraw./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
