1 dead, 3 hurt in motorcycle mishap in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A female back rider was killed and three others were injured, including the drunk driver of the motorcycle they were riding, after he lost control of the vehicle along the highway in Guinayangan, Quezon on Friday.

Police Officer 2 Randy Requinto, the officer-on-case, in a report said the incident happened at around 3:45 p.m.

Rizaldo Menguillo was driving his Kawasaki motorcycle in Barangay (village) Hinabaan with three back riders on board when they crashed on the right side of the road after the driver lost control.

The villagers rushed the victims to the nearest hospital but one of the back riders, Solidad Menguillo,47, died while being treated at the St. Jude Hospital in Lopez town.

The police have yet to determine the relationship between Solidad and Rizaldo.

Rizaldo and the two other motorcycle passengers, a Mariz Menguillo and an unidentified minor, were still confined at the Guinayangan Medicare Community Hospital, Requinto said.

He said Rizaldo was driving without a license and was under the influence of liquor. The Land Transportation Office added that the motorcycle’s registration was also expired, he added.
