Woman killed inside city lodge

A woman, whom police identified as a commercial sex worker, was stabbed dead by her customer inside a pension house in V. Gullas St., barangay Sto. Nino, Cebu City at 3 :30 a.m. yesterday.

Police identified the victim as a certain “Ester” of Dumanjug town in western Cebu.

SPO3 Rey Cuyos said Ester was stabbed several times in the body by an unidentified assailant, who was her customer inside the YSL Lodge.

Police arrested Nixon Roslaida and Jovelito Matos of Masbate after witnesses tagged them as companions of the assailant.

They were arrested outside the lodge. Both men denied knowing the assailant and said they were just passing by the area.

Investigation showed that Ester and her customer checked in the Lodge at 3 a.m. But 30 minutes later, the roomboy heard a woman shouting for help inside the room. When the roomboy, Rolando Lauron, 29, checked the room, he found the assailant carrying a bloodied knife running outside while the victim was sprawled on the floor. She didn’t reach the hospital alive.

Roslaida and Matos were arrested by responding policemen and detained at the Cebu City police detention cell.

Cuyos, however, said that the two men would be released if no one would file charges against them./Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
