Rains expected in parts of PH as Nina exits

MANILA, Philippines — Rains are expected in parts of the country even as tropical storm Nina exited the Philippine territory, the state weather bureau said Friday.

“Eastern Visayas and the whole Mindanao will be cloudy with occasional moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley and the Ilocos region will have occasional light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Northeast monsoon, or Amihan, has started to affect Northern Luzon, the weather bureau added, while easterlies, or winds coming from the east is affecting Mindanao.

Cool winds from Amihan is usually linked to Christmas season.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be with moderate to rough.
