Three persons were wounded in an early morning shootout between two groups of men in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.
Police are looking at illegal drugs as a possible motive in the shooting. They arrested two men and confiscated their guns and ammunition.
Those wounded were Junry Gloria, 27; Enrico Vergara, 27; and Juan Baroman, 30. All are residents of barangay Ibo and were brought to hospital for treatment after they were wounded in the shootout at past 1 a.m.
Gloria was hit in the arm, Vergara was shot in the leg while Baroman got a bullet in the chest.
Investigation showed that Baroman’s group approached Gloria’s group along a road in sitio Commonwealth. Suddenly Barroman’s group pulled out guns and shot at the Gloria’s group, hitting Gloria and Vergara.
Members of Gloria’s group retaliated hitting Baroman. Each group then fled in different directions.
When police arrived they arrested Ferlito Deparine, 42, and Erwin Apol, 44. Both were caught with a loaded snub nose revolver and a .357 revolver. Police also confiscated seven plastic packs believed to contain shabu and P1,020 cash.
Police said both men were members of Gloria’s group who fired back at Baroman’s group.
Both are detained at the Lapu-Lapu police station pending the filing of charges./Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
