Nautical student kills self
A 22-YEAR-OLD 4th year nautical student was found hanging dead in his boarding house in barangay Sto. Niño, Cebu City yesterday morning.
His parents, a teacher and seaman who travelled from Toledo City to attend his graduation rites at 2 p.m., were shocked to find out about his death.
They didn’t know their son, Joven Vincent Cabachete Miana, didn’t qualify to graduate.
Joven left a suicide note apologizing to his parents and girlfriend that he was not being a good son and not making his family happy.
SPO4 Rey Cuyos, homicide investigator, said the young man may have killed himself out of shame that he wasn’t on the list of candidates for graduation in the University of Cebu, Mambaling Campus.
It was not clear how long the student knew he wouldn’t qualify to march with his classmates.
