Pipe works in Pasay until March

/ 11:55 PM October 18, 2012

Starting Friday until March next year, motorists who usually take Andrews Avenue and Sales Road in Pasay City should look for alternative routes if they want to avoid being caught in heavy traffic.

In a statement, Maynilad Water Services Inc. said it is replacing old and leak-prone pipes on the two major thoroughfares in the city and the repair work is expected to result in light to moderate traffic in the affected areas as well as nearby streets.

According to the water concessionaire, the water lines on these roads have been prone to leaks and breakage due to age.

“To address the problem, Maynilad is spending P140 million to install almost five kilometers of new primary and secondary lines on Sales Road and Andrews Avenue, from near Gozar Street to Domestic Road in Pasay City,” it said.

It added that the pipe replacement project, which is expected to be completed in March 2013, would improve water supply and pressure for over 26,200 households and establishments in the areas of Malibay, Maricaban and Villamor in Pasay.

“To minimize traffic and public inconvenience, the contractors of Maynilad will only be allowed to work from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.,” it said.
