Militant students disrupt session on K-12 program

MANILA, Philippines — Deliberations on the K-12 program being proposed at the House of Representatives were disrupted when militant students shouted at the plenary during session.

Around seven protesters were dragged out of the chamber by security personnel after they shouted anti-government slogans to protest the K-12 program which will add two more years to the present 10-year education program.

Miguel Cruz, deputy secretary general for the League of Filipino Students, said that students in the country would not want to be shipped out as skilled workers to other countries.

The K-12 program has just been passed on second reading Wednesday night.
