Over 100 party-lists may be disqualified–poll chief

MANILA, Philippines–Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes said Tuesday that the final list of party-list groups qualified for the midterm elections next year will be released before the end of the year, with probably over a hundred groups disqualified.

In an interview with Ruel Perez of “Dyaryo sa Radyo” on Radyo Inquirer 990AM, Brillantes said the review process on party-list groups is in full swing.

Targeting date for the final list is in December, he said adding that over 100 groups may be dropped from the list.

To date, 22 organizations have been found ineligible to run for congressional seats next year.

Disqualified groups, Brillantes said, can file their protests in the Supreme Court.
