Stream Ingenyouity successfully defended its crown after pulling off a 65-53 win over the Teletech Titans, completing a 2-0 sweep in the 2012 Sun Cellular E-League for Basketball finals at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym, last Saturday.
Edwin Bibera led the title-clinching win for Stream by tallying 19 points, 14 rebounds, three blocked shots, three steals and an assist. His brilliant all-around game earned Bibera the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Louie Ceasar Arroyo finished with 12 points, six boards, two blocks and two steals, while Benjie Mancao and Sylvester Millevo had nine points each for Stream, which also won Game 1 convincingly, 70-60.
Determined to end the series, Stream took off to a hot start and closed the first quarter with a 19-11 lead. The defending champions tapered off in the second period, allowing the Titans close in, 21-27, at the turn.
It was a tight battle in the second half but Stream proved to be the steadier team, outscoring the Titans in the third, 21-19. The defending champions then finished off their opponents with a 17-13 assault in the fourth.
Lourenz Limpangog topped the Titans with 13 points, while Sherwin Anghay and Sherwin Emmannuelle Resilla added 12 points apiece.
Resilla didn’t go home empty-handed as bagged the southern conference MVP award. The northern conference MVP tiara went to Calltek’s Aerl Genebraldo.
