MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon “Nina” slightly weakened as it remained over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
Nina, which will continue to bring rains within its 600-kilometer diamer, was last seen 760 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
It was moving slowly west northwest at 5 kph. By Thursday evening, it was forecast to be 130 km southeast of Okinawa, Japan.
“The regions of Caraga and Northern Mindanao will have light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms,” Pagasa said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the north to northwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northwest to west with slight to moderate seas.
Fishing boats and other vessels are still advised not to venture out into the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern Seaboard of Northern and Central Luzon.
