The much-awarded Dancesport-Team Cebu City found itself at the top of the dancesport hierarchy once more as it dominated the 16th Dancesport Council of the Philippines Inc. (DSCPI) National Dancesport Championship 2012 with 11 gold medals, 12 silvers and four bronze medals last Saturday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
The pairs of Carl Papellero and Jasmine Labra, and Gylle Diluvio and Andreah Capangpangan led the gold rush with two gold-medal wins each.
Papellero and Labra ruled the Juvenile 3 dance Standard and Latin events while Diluvio and Capangpangan reigned supreme in the Latin and Standard disciplines in the juvenile A classes.
There were also many others that attained glory for DTCC with Bernie Tumaron and Miljane Camacho winning the Standard grade amateur event; Jeffrey Benarao and Mary Dumosmog taking the youth C Standard event; Marian Camacho and Manuel Reyes winning the Standard professional class; and Anselmo Estillore and Eleanor Hayco holding steady and in a class all on their own in the Latin special event A 5 dance.
Andrew Ysla and Therese Quilaton also brought home a gold medal for their performance in the Latin junior C event while Zjiane Villarta and Zjiana Villarta dominating the Latin junior A class. Finally, Hayco also added another gold medal to her name as she teamed up with Davin Unabia to win the Latin senior C event. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
