Kawasan Falls to open in November
CEBU Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and some owners of illegal structures in the Kawasan Falls will sign a memorandum of agreement on October 24 setting conditions for the complete clearing of illegal structures in the falls in Badian town.
They have agreed to complete the demolition of illegal structures in all the three levels of the falls within six months
Structures to be demolished are those found within the 20-meter easement zone of the falls.
Governor Garcia, in the meeting, told the owners to replace the concrete structures with picnic huts.
For now, no business permits have been issued to resort owners and tour operators in the Kawasan Falls.
Badian Mayor Robburt Librando told CEBU DAILY NEWS that Kawasan Falls is scheduled to be open again to the public in November in time for the Christmas season, even as the clearing goes on. /Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
