AN 11-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man died in separate road accidents involving drivers under the influence of liquor in far flung towns in Cebu last Saturday.
Karen Ann Boltron was riding a motorycle driven by her female cousin when it collided with a tricycle past 5 p.m. in barangay Kabangbang, Bantayan town.
She cracked her skull and died.
Boltron and her cousin Nice Layese, 22, were rushed to the hospital. Layese suffered injuries in her hand and body.
Police arrested the tricycle driver Romel Villacampa, who had been drinking liquor before the accident.
His tricycle passengers suffered only minor injuries.
In Asturias town, western Cebu, a man was sideswiped by a motorycle while walking along the highway at 10 p.m. in barangay Looc,
Ruel Brigoli, 21, died of multiple injuries.
Police arrested the motorcycle driver, Laurence Esmoni, 35, who was under the influence of liquor.
Esmoni a was also driving without a valid driver’s license.
He faces a charge of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide./Correspondents Joy Quito and Chito O. ARagon
