Tomas to file case against brgy chief

CEBU CITY REP. Tomas Osmeña  yesterday promised to file a case against barangay captain Benjamin Zabate of Sawang Calero for harassing his  youth leaders last August.

Police already filed an alarm and scandals complaint against Zabate with  the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office  over the Aug. 9 incident where members of the Osmena Youth Empowered for Service were allegedly heckled during their dance number in the barangay.

The youths said they  saw Zabate drinking with a group of men near the presentation.

At the end of the dance presentation, they said  Zabate boarded a Hi-Ace Coaster and  fired his gun in the air.

Police investigated the incident and filed a complaint last Aug. 22.

Prosecutors have not yet issued a resolution on the case to determine if it should be elevated to the court.

Osmeña said he would consult his legal team about filing  another criminal case against Zarate , this time with the  Ombudsman.

Zarate, for his part, said he was ready to face whatever case is filed/Correspondent Patricia Andrea Pateña
