Police have filed a frustrated murder case in the Manila Prosecutor’s Office against four Adamson University (AdU) students in connection with last week’s stabbing of another student on the campus last Wednesday, the case investigator told the Inquirer Monday.
Police Officer 3 Anthony Navarro of the Ermita police station identified those charged as John Francis Gelones also known as Juris, 20; Mark Raven Sallao, 18; Don Lawrence Hapal and Jem Alcid. Another student who was initially tagged by authorities was not included in the charge sheet because he did not take part in the stabbing, according to the victim, Kevin Roi Castro.
The 21-year-old Castro told the police that he did not know why he was stabbed. He identified his attackers as members of the Tau Gamma fraternity. Castro himself belongs to another fraternity.
The school, however, has yet to determine if the stabbing was the offshoot of a fraternity war.
Aside from the court case, the four also face administrative charges in the Office of Student Affairs, the university president said in a statement.
Fr. Gregorio Bañaga Jr. said the university cooperated in the police investigation by providing authorities a copy of the administrative investigation preliminary report and pictures of the suspects.
He added that Castro was given immediate medical attention for the two stab wounds he sustained on his left arm. Castro has been released from the hospital while the school shouldered his medical expenses.—With a report from Rima Granali
