To keep his life as normal as possible despite his illness, the mother of 8-year-old Renz Xyro Almenario enrolled him in the first grade at a school in Candelaria, Quezon province.
However, the boy who suffers from leukemia attended classes for only three months before he was forced to drop out.
“He complained that he easily gets tired. Eventually, he started to lose his appetite. He also said that his bones were aching again,” his mother, Liezel, said. “Before that, he told me he wanted to go to school just like his cousins.”
Renz underwent chemotherapy in 2010 but doctors have prescribed another round of treatment for him. This time, he will need P25,000 for the maintenance chemotherapy cycle, including fees for bone marrow and other laboratory tests at Philippine General Hospital.
