Village watchman killed in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines–A village watchman was shot and killed by two motorcycle-riding gunmen  while he was talking with his wife outside their house in Manila before dawn Monday, police said.

Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez of Manila Police District’s Homicide division said victim Roger Manaquis died while undergoing medical treatment at Mary Johnston Hospital after being shot by still unidentified assailants outside his home in Sta. Maria, Tondo, Manila around 1:30 a.m.

He said Manaquis was discussing holiday plans with his wife when the gunmen arrived on board a motorcycle and shot the victim several times. The victim’s wife failed to note the vehicle’s plate number.

Case was placed for further investigation, he said. Jamie Marie Elona
